Germany vigorously promotes R&D activities in the biotechnology industry
In 2004, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research launched the "BioChancePLUS" program. The “Biological Opportunity+†project launched by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research will provide a total of 30 million euros in funding for research projects for 60 young biotech companies. In the short term, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research adopted an external expert review method and selected 60 project applications from 133 project applications. Within the framework of the "Biological Opportunity+" program, by 2006, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research will provide 100 million euros in funding to promote young innovative biotechnology companies to achieve their high-intensity research development. The 60 projects selected recently have covered areas such as drug research and development, medical diagnostics, and biotechnology methods in the industrial production process. In 2004, Germany started the "Bio-opportunity+" program. Many companies have signed cooperation agreements with many well-known pharmaceutical companies through the project, and they have obtained additional research and development funds, and their R&D capabilities have continued to increase. The project bidding for the third and final phase of the "Bio-Opportunity Plus" program will begin in the fall of 2005.
