Hazelnut planting technology

Hazelnut planting technology

The fruit hazelnut can resist the cold of -35°C, and it has the characteristics of cold resistance, strong adaptability and fragrantness of wild hazelnut, and has the advantages of thin skin, high kernel rate and high yield. After 6 years of regional trials and comparative observations, the promotion began.

First, planning and selection

In accordance with the appropriate principle of suitable land selection. Hybrid hazelnuts are hi-light tree species with strong suitability, but they grow well in slightly alkaline and neutral soils with pH values of 7-8. They can be planted on well-drained land conditions on flat land or sandy land. Hazel trees are not resistant to water and moisture, and should not be built in depressions, high groundwater levels, and soil viscosity.

Second, planting technology

1. Site preparation

The pit is 70 to 80 cm in diameter and 60 to 70 cm in depth. 25 kg of farmyard manure is applied to each pit, and some straw is put on it, and the topsoil is backfilled.

2. Planting density

Hazel tree planting distance is generally not less than 3 meters, the maximum should not exceed 6 meters, if you consider the early high yield, can be more dense.

3. Pollination tree configuration

Hazel trees are cross-pollinated plants and pollination between varieties can increase fruit setting. Artificially assisted pollination should be taken during the flowering period.

4. Planting time

Hazel trees are suitable for planting in our land from the beginning of May to the middle of May. The roots of the seedlings before planting were soaked with rooting powder for 24 hours. When planting, the seedlings will be placed in the middle of the hole, the root system will be stretched, and the diameter of the nursery stock will be 3 to 4 cm. After planting, the soil around the seedlings is planted, irrigated with water, and then covered with mulch to prevent evaporation of water, increase ground temperature, and increase the survival rate.

5. Dry

After planting, it will be dried, divided into simple shapes and plexiform shapes. The soil with good land and fertilizer and water conditions should be used as a single-stem tree, with a height of 60 to 70 cm; otherwise it should be a plexiform tree with a height of 30 to 40 cm. The seedlings planted in the past should be strengthened with water and fertilizer management to make them grow and develop robustly, sprout a certain number of shoots, have good lignification and prevent leggy. After falling leaves in autumn, the soil is protected against cold and the soil can be as high as 1/2 of the plant. In late spring, the cold-proof soil was removed. Generally, it is not necessary to protect the cold from the second year.

6. Shelter forest

In order to reduce the harmful effects of wind damage and frost damage on hazel trees, hazelnut orchard shelter forests should be planned and designed.
