Peanut is really "longevity fruit"

Peanut is really "longevity fruit"

In recent years, foreign experts have made remarkable progress in research on peanuts. Recent experiments by Mexican experts show that peanuts and peanut oil are rich in phytosterols, especially beta sitosterol, of which the latter has been experimentally proven to be effective in preventing heart disease and colon cancer, prostate cancer and breast cancer.

American scientists also have achievements. They found a highly bioactive natural polyphenolic substance in peanuts— resveratrol. This substance is a chemopreventive agent for tumor diseases, and it is also a chemopreventive agent that reduces platelet aggregation and prevents and treats atherosclerosis and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Moreover, in the Anti-aging Holy Scripture edited and published by the American scholar Al Mindell in 1998, resveratrol was listed as one of the "100 most popular and effective anti-aging substances."

Today, NASA defines peanuts as one of the foods of space. Experts expect that various new products rich in resveratrol will be gradually introduced. Peanuts, peanut oil, peanut drinks, peanut butter and other products will play a greater role in diet and health in the future.

People know that olive oil contains extremely rich in unsaturated fatty acids. However, the latest study of nutrition experts in the United States found that peanuts are also rich in unsaturated fatty acids. What does this unsaturated fatty acid have? Prof. Chris Eisenter of the University of Pennsylvania conducted research and evaluation on the relationship between olive oil, peanut oil and peanut products and cardiovascular diseases. The results were encouraging. His subjects took in five different diets. The first was the average meal for the current U.S. residents, which was 34% for high fats and 16% for saturated fatty acids; the second meal had low fats, 25%, and low saturation. Fatty acids are 7%; the third is the olive oil meal, a healthy meal that has been proven; the fourth is the peanut oil meal; and the fifth is the "peanut + peanut butter meal." The experimental results show that, compared with the first high-fat diet, olive oil diet, peanut oil diet and peanut + peanut diet can significantly reduce total blood cholesterol and harmful cholesterol, basically no effect on beneficial cholesterol. The second low-fat diet, although also reducing total cholesterol and harmful cholesterol, but significantly increased the level of blood lipids, beneficial cholesterol has also been reduced. According to a comprehensive evaluation by Professor Chris Eisenter, consumption of olive oil can reduce the probability of occurrence of cardiovascular disease by 25%, and consumption of peanut oil and peanut products can be reduced by 21%. This result shows that the peanut oil diet and the peanut and peanut butter diet, like the olive oil diet, can play an effective role in preventing cardiovascular diseases.

The research results of Professor Chris Eisenter have been positively evaluated in the international academic community and have been verified in other countries. Researchers in Australia have also found that people who like high-fat diets often eat peanuts with lower levels of lipids than those with low-fat diets. That is, those who eat peanuts can alleviate cardiovascular disease. Of course, the effect of diet on blood lipid metabolism is complex and multifaceted. Therefore, people need to conduct more extensive and in-depth studies.

The new findings of foreign experts on the research of peanuts and their products have provided new ideas for the research and development of peanuts in China. China is the country with the largest amount of peanuts produced and exported in the world, both accounting for about 1/3 of the world total. China's peanuts are of excellent quality and enjoy a high reputation in the international market. It is reported that the Shandong Peanut Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences is working with the Shandong Luhua Peanut Oil Science and Technology Research Center to conduct a major study on the deep processing of peanuts. This will open up a new road for China's peanut industry. It will not only enrich our vegetable baskets, but also open up new domestic and foreign markets for our peanut products.
