India is considering lowering the government's wheat sales price

The Deputy Minister of Foods of India stated that the Indian government is considering downgrading the federal inventories of wheat for sale to large consumers. The current price for the government’s bulk buyers in New Delhi is Rs 12,540 per tonne.

He told reporters during a meeting: "We will soon seek approval for price cuts."

At present, the price that the government has set for a bulk buyer in New Delhi is Rs 12,540 per tonne.

India is the second largest wheat producer in the world. The country sold nearly 2.3 million tons of inventories of wheat to bulk buyers such as flour processors in October 2009 due to excessive wheat stocks in state-owned warehouses.
