At 25-28°C, the egg period is 5-7 days, larval period (1-2 years) is 6-7 days, the former flood period is 2 days, and the "flood season" is 3-5 days. The adult life span is 8-10 days. The females are capable of parthenogenetic reproduction. Each female produces about 50 eggs (21-178 grains) on average, and the eggs are produced in the leaf tissue. In the later stages of the 2nd instar nymphs, they often turn to the ground and experience "front and back" periods in the topsoil. In winter, the adult nymphs are mainly wintering, and there are also nymphs wintering on the inside of the onion and garlic sheaths, under the clods, in the earth seams, or in litter. There is no wintering phenomenon in South China. Adults are very active, flying well, afraid of the sun, feeding early, late or cloudy days. The newly hatched larvae are concentrated at the base of the tobacco leaf and are slightly larger and dispersed.
