A Study on the Cultivation Techniques of Cordyceps Sinensis in Shallow Disk>
The successful development of a new cultivation technique for *Cordyceps militaris* using shallow trays is expected to be rapidly adopted and applied in the industry. This innovation is likely to replace traditional methods, significantly contributing to the growth and modernization of the Cordyceps sector.
Artificial cultivation of *Cordyceps militaris*, an ancient Eastern treasure, is still in its developmental stage. Most current methods rely on the bottle-planting technique used in laboratories. While this method offers stable technology and safety, it suffers from low labor efficiency, poor bioconversion rates, high costs, and challenges in large-scale production. As a result, researchers have continuously explored alternative methods such as bag planting, pot planting, box planting, and large-scale vegetative cultivation. However, these techniques still face issues like process instability, difficulty in standardization, complex management, and low yields, which have limited their widespread application.
In recent years, through practical experience in our park, we have developed a novel set of techniques for cultivating *Cordyceps militaris*. The success of this technology is expected to mark a significant leap forward for the entire Cordyceps industry. Below is a brief summary of the current research status and key features:
1. **Reasonable design of tray structure with removable accessories**
The tray is fully enclosed with removable parts, featuring excellent ventilation and easy inoculation. This not only ensures a high success rate of sterilization but also greatly improves work efficiency. Its rectangular shape maximizes space utilization and facilitates standardized management, making it ideal for factory-based large-scale cultivation.
2. **Simple, cost-effective, and highly efficient shallow dish trays**
The special shallow trays use a trapezoidal three-dimensional double-sided design, offering a large light exposure area, simple manufacturing, and long service life. The 3D side-weeding structure allows for easy observation of fruit body growth, enhancing overall productivity.
3. **High loading capacity and convenient sterilization**
Each tray can hold the equivalent of 10–15 bottles. The stacking and sterilization process is straightforward, reducing time and effort during preparation.
4. **Fast, safe, and reliable inoculation**
The inoculation device is compact and user-friendly, allowing for quick and secure operations similar to handling test tubes. This results in a batch success rate exceeding 95%.
5. **Superior medium properties and rapid mycelium growth**
A three-in-one enriched medium is used, directly plated after pretreatment. After sterilization, the medium remains well-sealed and highly permeable, promoting rapid bacterial growth and fruit body formation, thus shortening the cultivation cycle.
6. **Easy management and significantly improved labor efficiency**
Shallow tray cultivation allows for better lighting, ventilation, and easier application of nutrient solutions and moisture control. This makes management more efficient and harvesting much faster—nearly 20 times more efficient than the traditional bottle method. It effectively solves the problem of slow and labor-intensive collection.
7. **Low investment and reduced production costs**
The technology is simple to implement, requiring minimal equipment investment and offering long-term durability. It supports intensive three-dimensional cultivation, which is easy to manage and operate, thereby lowering overall production costs.
8. **High-quality products and strong economic returns**
Due to optimal nutrition, moisture, and environmental conditions, the cultivated *Cordyceps* is thick, dark, and vibrant, resulting in superior quality and higher market value.
