Potassium deficiency: Growth slows down, and the internodes become shorter, causing the plant to bend or droop. Leaves curl, shrink, and their veins appear sunken. The leaf tips and margins change from green to dark green, and purple discoloration may appear on the leaves. Several lower leaves wither, but the central part of the plant remains healthy. The plant is more vulnerable to bacterial infections, and the tubers show a gray interior.

Leaves thicken, and their edges curl. Starch accumulates in the tissues, and prolonged deficiency causes the roots to become short, thick, and brown, leading to root death. The tubers are small, with brown vascular bundles and cracked skin.
