Britain develops new life rescue technology in the disaster area

Release date: 2010-10-08

British scientists have recently developed a new technology that can provide life-saving assistance in war zones and disaster areas. This technology can help drone planning and reconciliation tasks. For the military, this may mean that the need for personnel to perform surveillance tasks in theaters or terrorist areas is even less. The system can also be used for search and rescue services and to track toxic clouds after industrial disasters.
Designed for multiple drone applications, this autonomous computer frame allows an operator to control several unmanned aerial vehicles at a safe location on the ground, while also significantly reducing the cost of monitoring missions.
The study was conducted by scientists at Cranfield University in the UK in collaboration with the research team at Imperial College London.
Multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (MUAVs) are often used in the defense sector, so having such a group of aircraft means having more "airborne eyes" that can perform tasks safer and obtain more accurate intelligence.
It also means that if one of the aircraft is missing in the course of the operation, the other aircraft can continue to perform until the mission is completed. Enabling a group of aircraft in crowded or dangerous air requires the aircraft to have very advanced control and guaranteed performance.
This framework technology allows operators to plan a mission goal and authorize a group of drones to complete tasks in the most efficient manner.
Through a series of control algorithms, the framework manages the functions of each aircraft, such as flight, navigation, path planning and decision making, and ensures that the aircraft avoids colliding with other aircraft or other targets.
Professor Antonios Tsourdos, Principal Investigator of the project, explained the importance of the accuracy of the framework: "If the drone is performing in a residential area or in wartime, we must absolutely determine its actions."
Another benefit of applying the framework on drones is that it increases the chances that tasks will be safely and successfully executed.
Tsourdos said: "Because of bad weather or security reasons, tasks sometimes have to be cancelled, but drones can be used in more challenging conditions and can provide real-time feedback on the current situation."
The technology can also be used in search and rescue to find missing persons and boats. It allows search to be carried out without neglecting the details and avoiding fatigue, which can cause fatigue when working long hours under challenging conditions.
Another new use of the technology is in environmental monitoring. Researchers have built multiple drone models with chemical sensors to track contaminated clouds and predict their patterns.
This could revolutionize the form of emergency services for explosions, such as refinery disasters, which pollute the clouds and pose risks to people in local areas. This technology can provide more accurate information and data for potentially affected areas.
The technology can also play a role in many areas including mining, oil exploration, monitoring and surveying for traffic control, fire fighting, marine or geographic surveys, and navigation and border detection. Tsourdos hopes the technology will be routinely deployed within five years.

Flower shape design origin from the principle of aerodynamics, it reduces the surface area that impedes the flow of air from the air supply ceilings, resulting in a less turbulent flow underneath the light; the flower shape also can suit to mobile type, can choose straight arm or tube arm; the battery inside of the lamp base can last long for 8 hours, the flower lamp spot diameter is adjusted by electric, the brightness of different LEDs is adjusted automatically to change the spot size, which will avoid the possible occurance of mechanical malfunctions;
