Fab Finds:: The Book Of Quotable Quotations.

You know me—I have a soft spot for quotes, whether they're funny, thought-provoking, or just plain quirky. So when my partner and I stumbled across this book in a tiny, eclectic bookstore marked "Free Books," I couldn't resist snatching it up. The cover was worn, but there was something irresistible about it.

It turns out, this book is a treasure trove of wisdom, wit, and downright absurdity. It’s divided into categories—everything from love to loneliness, success to sarcasm. There’s even a section called "The Absurd," which is exactly what it sounds like.

Take this gem under "Boredom": "Boredom is as positive a sensation as a toothache." ~Lee S. Gunter. At first, I laughed out loud, but then I paused to think about it. Is boredom really such a bad thing? Maybe it’s a call to action—a nudge to seek out something new.

Under "Identity Crisis," there's another zinger: "A lot of people don’t realize they have an identity crisis until they try to cash a check in a strange town." ~Bill Vaughn. I mean, who hasn’t felt like they were winging it at some point? It made me reflect on my own moments of self-doubt.

There’s also a hilarious one under "Donation": "A guy donated a loud-speaking system to the church—in loving memory of his wife." ~Anonymous. I burst out laughing because, well, it’s both sweet and absurd. I could almost picture the poor pastor trying to explain the gift to the congregation.

And then there’s the "Phobias" section. One of my favorites reads: "Claustrophobia—fear of Santa. Hydrophobia—fear of fireplugs. Phonophobia—fear of stereos or telephones." ~Anonymous. I had to stop and re-read it twice because it’s just so ridiculous—and yet, strangely relatable.

It reminded me of the power of mindset and resilience. No matter what life throws our way, we always have the choice to respond positively—or not.

By the time I reached the end of the book, I realized I’d been laughing, thinking, and occasionally cringing for hours. It’s become one of those rare finds that feels personal, as if the author knew exactly what I needed to hear at that moment. And honestly, I don’t think I’ll be putting it down anytime soon.
