So, let me tell you something about my life lately. It's been a whirlwind of work and family chaos, but in the best way possible. You know how I always talk about traveling for work? Well, last week I found myself in Chicago again. This time, my family came along, and let me tell you, it was pure gold. My kids are the best entertainment ever.
First off, we stopped at a Starbucks before I had to head out for a meeting. My daughter, Aliyah, who's four, asked for her own Chai tea because she knew I'd be leaving soon. She carried her cup proudly, looking super cool in her galoshes and trapper hat. As we walked down the street, she looked up at the towering buildings and said, "Oh, I just love New York." I couldn't help but laugh and remind her, "We're in Chicago!"
Later that night, while I was in the bathroom fixing my hair, I overheard Aliyah turning down dinner. "No thanks, I just ate a blueberry," she said. I nearly dropped the curling iron. Where did that come from?
Then there was the moment when a friend of mine gave Aliyah some treats. When I mentioned his name, she waved her hand dismissively and said, "Oh mom, I've known him for hundreds of years." I laughed so hard I almost cried.
Oh, and here's another gem. On the way to the Shedd Aquarium, Aliyah spotted a colorful building and declared it was a Mexican restaurant she'd been to. When my friend questioned her knowledge, Aliyah confidently added that there was also a Starbucks nearby. By the end of the ride, the cab driver was completely charmed.
And then there's my son. He thinks everything Aliyah says is hilarious. Watching them interact is priceless.
Now, onto the part where I gush about how much I love traveling with them. Seriously, life doesn't get better than this.
