Mint, also known as Sumin, is a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine. Its extractant menthol is the main component of cool oil. Folks also use mint leaves for external application or boiled paste for topical treatment of certain diseases. Poisoning is often caused by overdose.

Toxicity: Peppermint contains 1~3% volatile oil, oil contains menthol (menthol) about 80%, followed by menthone, isomenthol, terpene and so on. It has stimulatory effects on the digestive tract and inhibits the medulla oblongata and heart. Serving 20 ml of menthol can cause severe poisoning.

Emergency treatment: Immediate manipulation or drug vomiting, vomiting after oral administration of 50 grams of activated carbon to the patient. Fasting milk and greasy foods within 24 hours after poisoning. People who have symptoms of poisoning should go to the hospital as soon as possible.

Poisoning prevention: Avoid eating mint in children. Do not listen to recipes and eat plenty of mint. Treatment should be conducted under the guidance of a doctor of Chinese medicine.
