Simply feeding milk is not good for baby's health

1. Human milk is fundamentally different from cow's milk in composition and function. For instance, when human milk enters the stomach, it forms a soft, jelly-like substance that is easier for an infant’s digestive system to process. In contrast, cow's milk coagulates into solid curds, which can be harder for a baby to digest. Additionally, human milk contains about 13% unsaturated fatty acids, which are essential for brain development, while cow's milk has very low levels of these beneficial fats. Feeding only cow's milk to infants may not meet their nutritional needs, as it lacks the specific nutrients required for proper growth and development.

2. At birth, a baby’s brain is still developing and relies heavily on the intake of lactose and fats rich in linoleic acid, both of which are abundant in human milk. Calves, on the other hand, are born with more developed brains, so cow's milk is formulated to support muscle and bone growth, containing higher levels of protein, inorganic salts, and minerals. However, this high mineral content can be harmful to infants, potentially leading to imbalances in metabolism and other health issues.

3. Simply feeding infants with cow's milk can lead to iron deficiency, swelling, and even anemia. Cow's milk is low in iron and other essential nutrients needed for healthy blood production, making it unsuitable as a sole source of nutrition for young children.

4. Excessive milk consumption may also cause skin problems such as dermatitis. Some infants experience dry, rough skin during cold weather and itching at night, which can disrupt sleep and reduce appetite. This highlights the importance of balancing milk intake with other nutritious foods.

5. Children who consume large amounts of milk may be more prone to intestinal worms. Interestingly, countries with high milk consumption, like New Zealand, often have poor dental health. Even in places like Sweden, where some elderly farmers drink small amounts of milk daily, many suffer from dental issues. This is believed to be due to an imbalance between calcium and phosphorus in the body, which can lead to the loss of calcium from bones and teeth, ultimately causing damage over time. Therefore, it's important to maintain a balanced diet and not rely solely on milk for nutrition.
