Chinese cabbage radish sprouts and their control

Injury characteristics: The damage typically occurs on the leaves of vegetables or the young shoots, causing shortening of the internodes, bending, and deformation of the young leaves, which curl downward. This results in stunted plant growth, affecting the formation of the heart or head, ultimately reducing yield. Seedlings that are infected are unable to grow properly, fail to flower, and do not produce seeds. Additionally, they can transmit viral diseases, making the overall impact far greater than the direct damage caused by the pest. Morphological characteristics: Winged females have a black head and thorax, with a green abdomen. Each of the first to sixth abdominal segments has marginal spots, and the abdomen features a central band. The first segment has a narrow back and middle band, while the fifth has a small median spot. Segments six through eight each have transverse bands, with the sixth being irregular. From the third to the fifth segments, there are 21–29, 7–14, and 0–4 circular secondary sensory circles respectively. Wingless female nymphs measure 2.3 mm in length and 1.3 mm in width, with a green or dark green color and a thin powdery coating. Their skin is rough with a diamond pattern, and their abdomen is long and tubular, tapering at the end, approximately 1.7 times the length of the tail piece. The tail piece has 4–6 long hairs. Living habits: In northern China, there are more than ten generations per year, while in southern regions, the number exceeds dozens. In warm areas or greenhouses, the pest reproduces continuously throughout the year as wingless females, without a clear overwintering stage. In areas north of the Yangtze River, it overwinters on host plants. Hatching begins in March or April. After several generations on the winter host, winged forms emerge and migrate to other vegetables, expanding the infestation. They do not change hosts during this process. In late autumn, some individuals reproduce and lay eggs for the next season. The optimal temperature range for radish sprouts is slightly broader than that for peach pods. At lower temperatures, radish sprouts develop faster (17.5 days at 9.3°C), compared to 24.5 days for peach pods at 9.9°C. Non-pollution prevention methods: 1. Strengthen monitoring. Use the yellow dish attraction method to track the migration of winged adults. Conduct field surveys to count locust populations. In fields where spatial distribution patterns have been studied, the "zero frequency method" can be applied for convenience. In areas prone to infestations, a grading index survey similar to disease monitoring may also be used. 2. In greenhouse cultivation, use insect-proof nets to prevent pests such as aphids, diamondback moths, cabbage caterpillars, flea beetles, Spodoptera litura, cutworms, and striped cucumber beetles. If full coverage is difficult, installing an insect net at the entrance or vents can still be effective. 3. Biological control: Use natural predators like ladybugs to manage aphid populations. Fungal pathogens and parasitic wasps can also be employed for vegetable protection. Spraying 1.1% neem oil at a concentration of 1000 times is recommended for effective control. 4. Chemical control: Choose pesticides with contact, systemic, and fumigant properties, such as 50% chlorpyrifos wettable powder diluted 1000 times, or 50% imidacloprid wettable powder at 1500 times. Other options include 25% pyridaphenthion emulsion at 1500 times, 5% thiamethoxam at 1500 times, and 50% phoxim EC. Apply 70 liters of solution per 667 square meters. Avoid using chemicals 11 days before harvest.

Artificial Grass Tape

Artificial grass tape has characteristics such as waterproofing, UV protection, and high adhesion.
Structure and Material: Artificial grass tape is usually made of non-woven fabric as the substrate, coated with strong adhesive (such as hot melt adhesive or pressure sensitive adhesive). Common colors include dark green, black, or dark brown to better blend with artificial turf.
Functional features: Its core functions are waterproof, weather resistant, and provide stable and durable adhesive force, which can effectively prevent the grass joints from warping or shifting. Some products also have anti-static properties.
Core role:
- Adhesive seams
Adhesive tape is used to bond the bottom of the lawn with hot melt glue or pressure-sensitive adhesive, replacing traditional glue bonding, reducing construction time and material consumption.
- Anti slip reinforcement
The non-woven substrate and release film design can enhance the friction at the bottom of the lawn, avoiding the lawn from shifting or slipping during movement.
- Waterproof and durable
Some products have waterproof performance and are suitable for outdoor or humid environments, with a service life of up to 6-8 years.
