Scarlet Oxalis, also known as *Oxalis safflower*, is a perennial herb belonging to the genus *Oxalis*. This plant typically grows between 15 to 25 cm in height, with a spherical stem and strong vegetative reproduction capabilities. The leaves are long-stalked, trifoliate, and arranged in a palmate pattern, with an inverted heart-shaped structure and a small depression at the tip. The flower stems range from 10 to 15 cm in length, emerging from the base and forming umbels with 12 to 14 flowers. Each flower has five pink to dark pink petals, featuring longitudinal slits. The blooming period starts in early April and continues until mid-November, with peak flowering occurring in July.
**Biological Characteristics**
1. **Effect of Temperature on Growth**
Native to South America and Brazil, Scarlet Oxalis prefers shaded and moist environments and is not cold-tolerant. Over the past six years of cultivation, no freezing damage to the bulbs has been observed. In winter, some stems may become soft, and a few leaves turn yellow, but the plant remains mostly green. It is vulnerable to spider mites, which can cause yellowing, drying, and reduced flowering if left unchecked.
