Perform a proper insecticide bath to protect your sheep from parasites. In summer, ewes often have lambs at the end of their life cycle. The new anthelmintic drug Afudin (Wormbuster) can effectively eliminate nematodes inside the body and also target external parasites such as ticks, lice, flies, and fly pupae. Administer 5 grams of Afudin per 50 kg of body weight, mixed into the feed. Repeat the dose after 7–10 days. After two treatments, no further medicated baths are needed. Lambs born in spring should be dewormed in the fall, and it's essential to strictly control the dosage to avoid overmedication. Make the most of summer grazing. The weather is hot, and sheep prefer to graze in the early morning and rest during midday. Adjust grazing time based on the amount of dew—more dew means later grazing. However, dew-covered grass can carry parasites, increasing the risk of infection. Also, dew can cause swelling in the hooves. It’s best to let the sheep graze just after sunrise and bring them in before 10 a.m., when the heat starts. Grazing around 2 p.m. and returning by 7 p.m. is ideal. Between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., especially on sunny days, choose high, dry, and well-ventilated areas or shaded spots to prevent overcrowding and stress. Before each grazing session, provide salt and fresh water to keep the sheep active. Offer clean, flowing water 4–6 times daily, avoiding stagnant or dirty water to reduce the risk of parasitic diseases. Avoid letting sheep lie in damp areas to prevent rheumatism. Ensure proper drying for the sheep. After grazing, move the sheep to a shaded area outside the pen to cool down and release body heat, promoting better health. Rushing them directly into the enclosure after grazing can lead to overheating and digestive issues. If you bring the sheep in during the midday, allow them to rest in the shade first. After the harvest at night, bring the sheep to the yard until midnight, then move them into the pen so they can stay outdoors. Before each feeding, drive the sheep out of the pen for 1–2 hours to dry them. Starting from the beginning of summer, ensure the sheep pen is dry, clean, and well-ventilated. If a sheep shows signs of weakness, lack of appetite, or other symptoms, it may be suffering from heat stress or injury.
