Seedlings are often transported early in the morning, but this is also when pond water has the lowest oxygen levels. If no prior aeration measures are taken, it can lead to poor seedling health, with many "settle seedlings" that struggle to adapt. To avoid this, it's essential to aerate the water before introducing the seedlings. The process includes flushing the pond for over two hours, applying an oxygen booster, and using an aerator. This continues until most of the shrimp in the cage show signs of active movement, indicating sufficient oxygen. Farmers should also prepare nets in advance to assist with the seeding process.
Second, live water transport is vital to reduce the risk of low survival rates due to improper handling. Many farmers still use dry containers like baskets, basins, or buckets for transporting seedlings, which causes overcrowding and stress. In addition to these three key steps, there are several other important considerations. First, purchase seedlings on sunny days, avoiding foggy or extremely hot weather. Second, always select "head-up seedlings" from cages, and avoid "settle seedlings." The size and uniformity of the seedlings should be consistent. Third, when releasing the seedlings, farmers should stand in the water rather than on the shore to prevent them from being buried in the mud. Fourth, be cautious about the temperature difference between the transport water and the pond water.
