High temperature to fish pond water injection "four changes"

Adjust the timing of water injection from daytime to nighttime. Under normal weather conditions, watering fish ponds at night—especially between 3 AM and 4 PM or 1 AM and 2 PM—can significantly increase the dissolved oxygen levels in the pond water, improve overall water quality, reduce the risk of fish floating at the surface, and prevent fish pond overflow and disease outbreaks. This practice is especially beneficial for maintaining a healthy aquatic environment.

Change the method of drawing deep water into shallow water. When using a pump to add new water to a fish pond, it’s common to insert the hose deep into the water, often more than one meter. This deep water tends to have high organic matter content, low dissolved oxygen, and lower temperature, which can be harmful to fish growth. To improve this, it's better to draw water from the shallow areas, ideally around 30 cm deep, where the water is richer in oxygen and more suitable for the fish.

Modify the direction of the water flow from straight to slanted. Many fish farmers simply place the pump hose in the center of the pond and let the water flow directly in, causing poor mixing between the new and old water. This slows down the process of adjusting the water quality. By directing the flow at an angle, the newly added water mixes more quickly with the existing water, improving the efficiency of the water exchange and enhancing overall pond conditions.

Change the direct flow of water to a controlled splash. When adding new water, if it flows directly from a height into the bottom of the pond, it can stir up sediment, feed remnants, and waste that have settled on the pond floor. This disturbance can lead to cloudiness and even cause structural issues in the pond. To avoid this, place a fixed wooden board under the water surface so that the incoming water hits the board first, creating a splash that increases the oxygen content of the new water while protecting the pond bottom from damage.

These small but effective changes in water management can greatly improve the health and productivity of fish ponds, making them more sustainable and easier to maintain. By paying attention to the timing, depth, and direction of water addition, fish farmers can create a more stable and oxygen-rich environment for their fish, ultimately leading to better growth and fewer disease problems.
